- "Grigore Moisil" Award (2000)
Starting 2000, Romanian Academy offers an award for theoretical
computer science; this prize is named after Grigore Moisil, an
important and well-known Romanian mathematician who is widely recognized
as the father of the Romanian Computer Science).
The first "Grigore Moisil" Award of the Romanian Academy was
received by Gabriel Ciobanu for his papers on process algebra and
bio-inspired computation.
- "Octav Mayer" Award (2004)
Iasi branch of the Romanian Academy introduces in 2004 its
own awards, namely two awards: one for science and another for humanities.
"Octav Mayer" Award for Science was received in 2004 by Gabriel
Ciobanu for his papers published in ISI (Science Citation Index) journals.
